No Gambling In December

Since my biggest loss of 2021, I've really stayed away from all speculative and gambling type of investments.

Pretty chuffed to have been able to achieve that to be honest.

Hopefully 2022 will be a better year for me.

I've written off 2021 from a personal investing standpoint, my loses have been the worst in the last five years.

So sad.

Biggest Damage Of 2021

This wasn't a berserker rage event.

Still, it hurt so bad.

The big trade was PayPal (PYPL).

I opened too large a position with CFDs.

Ended up losing SGD 16K.

Goodness.

Sad.

Welcome To The Metaverse

Since Facebook changed its name to Meta, a lot of attention has been on the metaverse.

Remember Ready Player One the movie?

Yeah something like that.

Only how to invest?

Recently got in to MANA, SAND, ENJ.

That's how.

Natural Gas Catastrophe

Bloody hell.

Just because I read so many energy shortage reports and the spiking cost of energy.

I totally FOMO-ed and ended up buying a 2X Natural Gas ETF.

RIGHT AT THE ALL TIME HIGH.

Then it crashed.

In the end, an overnight of folly cost me $2K.

Bloody hell.

See below's chart.

I went long at that almost 6.50 mark.

DAMMIT!!!

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 September

 No changes to the Gainers.

My losers continue to change as I trade mainly the CFD Indices which almost always end up at a loss.

Damn sad lah.

So my losses in the Dow (US 30 Wall Street) got worse, while my losses in the NASDAQ surpassed my previous number three, GameStop.

Sad lah.

Huge drop in my NORTHPOLE losses though thanks to USDSGD gains.

My Saxo P&L 2021 September

September was no better.

I dabbled a little in CFD Indices and lost yet again.

It always ends in a loss.

:'(

In the end, the USDSGD gains on my NORTHPOLE PE holdings ended up helping me with the extensive gains.

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 August

One major change since the last update last month.

Managed to make a little bit from Conbase to let it surpass Sembcorp Marine into the top 3!

The rest still mainly the same.

It makes me sad to see the huge loss from the Private Equity investment.

Need to earn better profits going into the final quarter of the year.

My Saxo P&L 2021 August

 August wasn't terrible.

In fact I had hardly any trading activity aside from the Polestar Private Equity investment.

Problem was the USDSGD rate deteriorated and caused a loss.

Sad.

Nimbus Capital

So I have rarely ventured into parking my funds or pay subscriptions for trading advice.

However, this was one that I have monitored and followed for several years now, and have committed a monthly subscription to his trade advice and recommendations.

You can find more information about Nimbus Capital here.

This guy is super legit. His name appears as Zaw Oo on Facebook when I first followed him years ago. He was giving out trading education and recommendations for free and it took me years to notice that he was legit, fit and proper as a trading guru. Then he started out Nimbus Capital and the rest is history.

Thankfully he hasn't reached euphoric popularity either, but his following is gaining a lot of momentum.

And the key reason is because he is real and he is honest about everything he preaches. He doesn't spiel about doubling, tripling your money with "ho kang tao" and "insider news" bullshit.

For him, the basic methodology of risk management and technical analysis is all he preaches, with no guarantees that each trade will be a P or an L. Coverage is SG, US, HK stocks.

He will provide his calculated Entry Level, Stop Loss and Take Profit levels ONLY when there are worthwhile trades popping up on his scanner.

There are certainly hits and misses. So no trade of his is a guaranteed win, but even if your stop loss is hit, you will already know what you would lose, as long as you kept to his approach and instructions!

So for his USD $20 per month package, I am getting good enough updates on this daily scanners (stocks which fulfill his criteria), his recommended trade set ups, and other educational stuff (which I hardly bother with).

The money for me is in the recommended trade set ups. They are sound, and they are good, with a good Win/Loss, Risk/Reward ratio.

More enthusiastic followers can even sign up for his training courses (he charges $3,000) and learn his criteria for stocks appearing on his scanners, and also learn to structure their own trade set ups. Maybe when I leave my day job, I might want to go for his course.

Very highly recommended.

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 July

So there is quite a shake-up going into this latest update.

Two months makes a little bit of difference and since this list is dynamic, meaning losers can turn to winners if I trade them again and be profitable and vice versa, there's always hope to improve things.

One thing I surely cannot improve on is the Polestar investment, where the fees were booked as trading losses. Still, I am very hopeful that this trade will be one of the most profitable trades in my life :)

HUAT AH!

So, just like that, NORTHPOLE will likely remain the biggest loss of this year.

No changes to biggest winners unfortunately.

Biggest losers, have seen the previous top two drop to second and third respectively, and I added more losses in the Dow30 CFD Index.

Need to stop the gambling bit in my trading!

My Saxo P&L 2021 July

Yeah so I skipped two months of reporting.

You can see my poor performance from below nonetheless.

May simply got worse and worse because I went back to playing with CFD Indices as well as Crypto trading.

I kept losing money shorting the NASDAQ and the volatility of Crypto trading.

In June I kinda picked things up a bit by reducing my gambling streak by basically NOT GAMBLING AT ALL.

End up making a little bit of money which was great.

July continued in the same vein, but due to my investment into Polestar, my first foray into private equity, the fees were charged as a trading loss.

Not sure why that is but nothing much I can do about it.

Yet considering the net charges off Polestar was $12.7K, and my published loss was $11.6K, it actually means that I was in the green of around $1.1K.

Not bad in light of things.

Hopefully my trading continues to improve from here.

Polestar

So recently we made a small investment into this Electric Vehicle (EV) company called Polestar.

According to Wikipedia:

Polestar is a Swedish automotive brand established in 1996 by Volvo Cars' partner Flash/Polestar Racing and acquired in 2015 by the former. It is owned by Volvo Cars and by extension its parent company Geely. Geely describes the brand as "independent" from 2017 onwards and "co-owned" by it and Volvo Cars.

Now we are awaiting for Polestar to IPO.

Hopefully it will fly high high and make me rich hahaha.

Then we can use the proceeds to buy ourselves a Polestar car!

Move aside Tesla, it is time for Polestar to shine!

And Polestar will be retailing in Singapore from October!

Third Berserker Rage of 2021

 This one is really bad.

The worst of this year.

I got caught up in the recent Crypto volatility.

Particularly when Saxo just launched its Crypto-currency FX offerings.

ETH went absolutely crazy over the course of one trading session, at one point dropping more than 40% in value!

I shorted, then longed, then shorted again. All died in the wrong directions amidst the whipsaws.

Then I decided to make it back with the NASDAQ100 CFD Index trading and lost even more there.

In all I lost 9k from my earlier crypto losses plus that night's crazy swings.

Sad.

I really need to stop this shit.

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 April

Another similar month.

The biggest change in on the biggest Gainers front where my NASDAQ gains totally got crushed by another berserker rage incident.

This left my 3rd best gainer of the year to be a lousier number from my SembCorp Marine profits.

No change to the Losers.

My Saxo P&L 2021 April

April's turned out pretty good for me with a GREEN number finally.

Sadly I'm not really in much mood since I'm blogging this April positive numbers on the back on knowing my May figures are the worst for the year.

Stay tuned for the May update bah.

:(

Windfall II

 Again still awaiting my bounty.

What a long wait its been, but this Friday should be the big day.

I've worked really hard for this.

And still I haven't got anything really set, although I have a rough idea of how to apportion my funds.

1/4 will go to immediate family (there's a lot to dole out).

1/4 I will save for taxation purposes.

1/2 will be for investments.

Of the potential investments, I have more or less made up my mind to lock them in to REITs.

Hopefully it will pay off.

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 March

 Hmm.

March was very similar to February. As you can see here.

I haven't been making very big trades, so not much P/L to crow about.

Couldn't deliver much to break into either of the Top 3s.

That might be a good thing actually.

Monday 19 April 2021

My Saxo P&L 2021 March

March was a really poor month for me yet again.

The early month gambling on indices basically got me into a hole I couldn't get out of.

That said, the rest of the month turned out rather OK IMHO.

I'm trying to be more disciplined not and follow my subscription sifu's trades.

Hopefully that pays off much better in the longer term.

To a good April!

HUAT AH

Windfall

Will be getting a little bit of a windfall this April end.

Have been deliberating about how I should invest it wisely, so that I won't end up squandering it all, as I have done many a times in my last almost 20 years working career :'(

I could jolly well leave it all in a Fixed Deposit.

I could max it out in either the OCBC 365 or UOB One accounts which pay around 1.2% p.a.

I could put it all in a 3% p.a. yielding Bond.

I could YOLO it all into Bitcoin or Tesla.

I could buy a few REITs that pay me 5-6%  p.a. in yield.

Already have a rough idea of what I will do, but since it is still about 4 weeks away, I can still have a deeper think into what I'd do.

Hopefully I will keep a hold of it wisely.

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 February

Yeah I know we are at the tailend of March.

Still, this has a good indication of where I'm killing myself a lot.

My index trading has made it to BOTH gainers and losers again. It shows how volatile trading on CFD Indexes really is. Hopefully the last few weeks has shown that I am capable of stopping this really bad gambling habit.

All other gainers and lowers have remained in similar values. I doubt I will deliberately trade them to change those values (because I could easily just do that with the CFD indexes :P)

Well hopefully the losers will stay this way OR improve, while the gainers will continue to climb higher and higher.

My Saxo P&L 2021 February

February was a good month for me.

I managed to claw a little bit of green back.

That said, it was still very speculative in nature and very luck-based.

I really have to stop all this speculative bullshit because I am only losing money because of this.

Take a look at March numbers.

Booooooooooooo!

Second Berserker Rage Of 2021

And just like that, I lost my self discipline yet again!

Again on my IG Markets account!

Again on KO Options!

Again on Indices (NASDAQ100)!

Just decided to take a punt and ended up losing $2,750 on four trade.

In out, long short, buy sell, all die.

Geez!

So frustrating!

Monday 15 February 2021

Top Gainers & Losers 2021 January

This is a new segment which I hope to do monthly.

Basically would like to chart the top gainers and losers trades for the year.

January (and a little of February) has brought in some good gainers to offset my losers.

On the gainers front, the PayPal trade has recently paid off handsomely. Early January also managed to clock the First Resources trade to make some good money. The NASDAQ index gamble is quite a fluctuating one, so this might drop in and out of the list throughout the year.

On the losers front, they traditionally get dominated by the indices trades which waste a lot of my money. Obviously the Dow30 is one standout that's losing my tons of money in January. Made one stupid trade on DBS in late January as well which wasted my money basically, within a few days. And of course the worst trade was the big market event of the year so far, the $GME and $AMC event where GameStop stocks went crazy because of the Reddit sub called WallStreetBets. What a saga that was, and how I managed to turn a big win at the first instance, into such a big loss.

Here's hoping I don't clock any bigger losers, and instead clock larger and larger winners!

My Saxo P&L 2021 January

So it is a new year and I immediately dig a really deep hole for myself.

In January not only did I clock my first berserker rage of the year, which was really stupid, but also found myself about 3K down in my Saxo investment account.

Most of it due to unnecessary and over-trading of indices.

Again.

Sigh.

Hopefully Feb will be better.

Tuesday 26 January 2021

First Berserker Rage Of 2021

 Sigh.

I really cannot get rid of this lack of self control.

Again.

Year upon year it always ends the same.

Played with KO Options on NASDAQ and really got KO-ed.

Damn you IG Markets! Why are you even offering it to gamblers!

Ended up losing 8K.

This is super painful.

:(

Friday 8 January 2021

Financial Resolution For 2021

Another year where I'd added a financial resolution out of my annual five.

This year is down from the two I had last year.

3) Earn >$30K In My Saxo Account

Mentally I already have had this target since the turn of the year. It can be seen as 'revenge' for my huge losses of last year. But really more importantly what has changed, I think, is a strengthened resolve later last year to change the way I trade. This I have adapted or am still adapting, but to rather positive results. This bodes well for this resolution, so let's see if it all pans out.

One prospective other goal I have for 2021 is to achieve more than 300K in total liquid assets by the end of the year.

Let's see if I can achieve it!

So far it is 8 days into 2021 and things do not bode well. I have been wasting money on the US Indices again as well as one stint of shorting TSLA (will I ever stop disbelieving in them?!), and am already down 4.9K for the year.

Hopefully things improve from this day forward!

Monday 4 January 2021

Stopping the Monthly Dividend Report

Since I'm not pursuing that trading strategy anymore, I will cease to report on my dividends moving forward.

The March 2020 crash basically took me out of most of my dividend stocks.

I guess I must be doing it wrong.

Sigh.

My Saxo P&L 2020

Again keeping up with traditions, here's how I've performed this year.

As with how terrible 2020 has been for everyone, it has also been a horrendous year for my personal trading account.

I lost the most money I ever did with this trading account.

Almost 30K.

Too much trading of indices and TSLA.

Damn you Tesla! When are you going to come crashing down?!

Look at this!

Anyway everything else also didn't really go to plan, so it's been a really bummer year for me on the investing front.

Sad.

Here's my total performance for the year.

A sea of red.

My Saxo P&L 2020 December

So I managed to cap a very shitty year with a high.

Raking in the most GREEN I've enjoyed for the year.

Largely due to a new trading strategy of following one particular paid-guru.

So far so good.

Really hope that he'll help me huat in 2021.

It is really looking promising so far.

All that said, look at how red 2020 has been for me in the Saxo account! So many bad decisions all cumulated together. I have never lost so much in a single year before. If not for December's outperformance, I would have lost more than 30K!

Anyway hope 2021 will bring me greater fortune and prosperity.

HUAT AH!

2020 Dividend Accumulator December

One single pathetic dividend payout.

Nothing much to crow about as usual.

17 December $5.00

18 December $13.50

21 December $40.00

30 December $34.00

30 December $18.00

Total Dividends for December: $110.50

Total Dividends for 2020: $4,353.20
Average per Month: $362.77
